This event was promoted as part of the Gangneung Olympic Legacy Zone Tour Product Development and Operation Project, which is a component of the tourism hub city development initiative. In addition, as a major event for the "2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year," it contributed to promoting the attractions of Pyeongchang, the travel destination of the month, and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province nationwide.
In particular, the course connecting the Ski Jumping Center, Cross-Country Center, and Biathlon Center offered participants a unique experience of running through the very sites that captured the excitement of the 2018 Winter Olympics, earning high praise from attendees.
The Snowathlon presented a new model for utilizing Olympic heritage as high value-added sports tourism content, going beyond its role as a mere sports symbol. Through this event, the potential for developing diverse tourism products utilizing Olympic facilities was demonstrated.
