10-inch Large Display, Priced at 3,590,400 Won
First-Day Stock Sold Out Online and In Stores
As Samsung Electronics began domestic sales of its foldable smartphone, the 'Galaxy Z Tri-fold,' which folds twice, the initial stock quickly sold out on the first day, signaling strong market interest.
According to the information and communications technology (IT) industry, Samsung Electronics started sales of the Galaxy Z Tri-fold on Samsung.com and at 20 stores nationwide, including the Samsung Electronics Gangnam store. All units available online sold out within five minutes of launch, and in-store inventory was also completely depleted immediately after opening.
Before sales began, dozens of people lined up in front of major stores such as Samsung Gangnam and Hongdae, reflecting high expectations for the new form factor.
Additional stock is expected to arrive next week, raising the possibility of shortages early in the week.
The Tri-fold is a new form factor smartphone that, when unfolded, offers a large 253mm (10-inch) display, and when folded, features a bar-type 164.8mm (6.5-inch) screen, the same as the Fold 7. When folded, it is 12.9mm thick, and when unfolded, the thinnest part measures just 3.9mm, making it the slimmest in the Fold series. The device is priced at 3,590,400 won.
Samsung Electronics announced that it will offer a 50% discount on display repair costs. However, Samsung Care Plus, the company's smartphone warranty service, does not apply to this product.
In addition, this product is sold exclusively as an unlocked device, with no carrier contracts.
Samsung Electronics explained that the Tri-fold enhances the multi-window feature, allowing up to three apps to run side by side, and that both Samsung's default apps and Galaxy AI features have been optimized for the large screen.
Furthermore, by maximizing the usability of the Tri-fold's large display, Samsung is supporting the tablet version of 'Samsung DeX' for the first time on a Galaxy smartphone. The device can be connected to external displays, a mouse, a keyboard, and more.
Samsung Electronics will expand sales to global markets, including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States, following the domestic launch. However, the release schedule for these markets has not yet been determined.
