Construction of Three Facilities: Integrated Care Welfare Village, Wellness Hub Healing Complex, and Korean Medicine Village
Expected to Become a Landmark for Enhancing Physical and Mental Well-being
On the afternoon of December 11, Geumsan County held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Geumsan Integrated Care Welfare Village," one of the projects under the "Geumsan Natural Healing Garden," at 438-1 Ain-ri, Geumsan-eup. A total of 58 billion won will be invested in this initiative.
The master plan for the large-scale "Geumsan Natural Healing Garden" project is divided into three separate undertakings: the Integrated Care Welfare Village, the Wellness Hub Healing Complex, and the Korean Medicine Village.
The "Geumsan Integrated Care Welfare Village" will receive an investment of 19.1 billion won, with completion targeted for February 2027. It will be built on a site of 10,865 square meters (3,287 pyeong), with a total floor area of 2,041 square meters (618 pyeong) across two above-ground stories.
The main facilities will include an auditorium on the first floor, while the second floor will house a children's workshop, a multipurpose cultural room, a meditation room, a dry sauna, a cafe, and another meditation room.
Additionally, there will be 16 separate forest bookstores constructed as independent spaces.
The "Wellness Hub Healing Complex" will break ground next year with a project cost of 17.9 billion won and is scheduled for completion in 2030.
The "Korean Medicine Village" will be developed from 2025 to 2028 with an investment of 18.5 billion won.
Park Beomin, County Governor of Geumsan, explained, "The Integrated Care Welfare Village will provide opportunities for healing and rejuvenation through music, art, and meditation. The Wellness Hub Healing Complex will feature a glamping site and offer programs to enhance physical and mental health through outdoor activities. The Korean Medicine Village will create a hanok village, where traditional Korean medicine programs will be conducted to improve our mind and body health."
He added, "Once the Natural Healing Garden is well established, Geumsan will become even more strongly recognized as the hometown of life that protects and nurtures our health. It will become a landmark where not only local residents but also visitors from outside the region can come to improve their physical and mental well-being."
Kim Kiyun, Chairman of Geumsan County Council, stated, "Now that the groundbreaking has taken place, I hope the construction will be completed safely and successfully, providing an opportunity to further enhance the quality of life for the people of Geumsan."
Kim Bokman, Chungnam Provincial Council Member, pointed out, "Geumsan County is a high-risk area for population decline, with senior citizens accounting for 38% and single-person households for 48% of the population. The rates of suicide and lonely deaths due to isolation and loneliness are higher than the national average."
He continued, "In such an environment, the construction of care facilities focused on emotional and mental healing, as well as overall well-being, represents an advanced form of happiness infrastructure. I hope that with the completion of the Geumsan Natural Healing Garden, seniors, people with disabilities, and children will all be able to enjoy happiness together as residents of Geumsan."
Kim Bokman, Provincial Council Member, also expressed concerns about the entrance road.
He said, "Three institutions will be located here, but the entrance road is being constructed as a farm road, which is worrisome. The road needs to be widened for the work to proceed smoothly," emphasizing the urgent need for expansion of the access road.
