Grand Prize in ESG Social (S) Category
Promoting ESG Values Through Practical Ordinances
Breastfeeding Support, Cultural and Arts Education, and Family-Friendly Parking Spaces for Everyday Life
Lee Jeonghee, a proportional representative of the People Power Party and member of the Gumi City Council in North Gyeongsang Province, received the ESG Grand Prize in the Social (S) category at the 3rd Korea ESG Awards, hosted by the Korea ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) Society, held at the National Assembly Library auditorium on December 10.
This award recognizes Lee Jeonghee's contributions in translating ESG social (S) values into concrete systems and policies for citizens, including protection for those in need of care, cultural rights, and transportation-vulnerable groups, thereby improving quality of life across the community.
Previously, Lee Jeonghee was recognized for her contributions in the environment and carbon neutrality sectors as the head of the Carbon Neutrality Research Group-a legislative research body-at the 1st Korea ESG Awards in 2023. With this year’s Grand Prize in the Social (S) category, she has once again demonstrated the achievements of her sustainable legislative activities.

Through the “Ordinance on Supporting Breastfeeding in Gumi City,” Lee Jeonghee has institutionally supported the health rights of infants and their guardians. She also sponsored the “Ordinance on Supporting Cultural and Arts Education in Gumi City,” laying the foundation for all citizens to access cultural and arts education, thereby working to expand the local social safety net that combines care and education.
Additionally, through the “Partial Amendment Ordinance on the Installation and Management of Parking Lots in Gumi City,” she clearly established the legal basis for installing family-friendly parking spaces for families with pregnant women, infants, and transportation-vulnerable individuals. This has helped spread a culture of transportation welfare and social consideration that citizens can experience in their daily lives.
Lee Jeonghee stated, “I believe that my activities with the Carbon Neutrality Research Group and this award in the Social (S) category are encouragement for my ongoing efforts in ESG legislative activities that encompass both environment (E) and social (S) values. I think that small changes closely connected to citizens’ daily lives-such as supporting breastfeeding, cultural and arts education, and family-friendly parking spaces-come together to strengthen the sustainability of our society.”
She added, “Going forward, I will continue my legislative work by prioritizing the socially disadvantaged and future generations, steadily building the necessary systems and policies on the ground.”
