Guidance on Customized Major Completion for Students
Dong-A University announced that the Dong-A·Dongseo Glocal Consortium University held a joint information session for the 'Field Interdisciplinary Major'.
This session took place on December 9 at the Cheongchon Hall in the university headquarters on the Seunghak Campus of Dong-A University, targeting current students. Students, faculty, and staff attended the event, showing significant interest.
Previously, on December 2, a similar information session was held for Dongseo University students at the main auditorium of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Building at Dongseo University.
Under the theme "Learning Beyond Boundaries, Growing Through Interdisciplinary Majors," the information session introduced the key features of the interdisciplinary majors, a year-by-year growth roadmap, customized completion methods for students, as well as the participation process and benefits of the Field Interdisciplinary Major. The following Q&A session focused on addressing students' actual questions and facilitated interactive communication.
The 'Field Interdisciplinary Major', the flagship educational brand of the Dong-A·Dongseo Glocal Consortium University, is a field-based convergent major that goes beyond the classroom to provide direct learning experiences in industrial settings. Its primary focus is on fostering future professionals in response to societal changes and the restructuring of industrial sectors.
The currently offered interdisciplinary majors are in the fields of hydrogen energy, power semiconductors, advanced content, and convergent design. Next year, majors in human meta-care and heritage content will be newly added. During the session, the main programs of the existing majors were introduced, along with the educational directions for the new majors to be launched in 2025.
The Dong-A·Dongseo Glocal Consortium University operates 20 'Field Campuses' throughout Busan. Notable examples include the Dong-A University High-Performance Valve Technology Support Center (hydrogen energy), the Busan Technopark Power Semiconductor Center (power semiconductors), the BIFF Story Camp (advanced content), and the Busan Fashion Biz Center (convergent design). In the future, Prestige Biopharma (human meta-care) and Dong-A University Seokdang Museum (heritage content) will also be utilized as educational sites.
Students can complete the interdisciplinary major through various pathways, including micro-degrees, minors, and double majors. In addition, students receive support funds upon completing modules, and costs required for participating in Field-related extracurricular programs are also covered. Outstanding students are given opportunities for overseas exploration. As students can participate in actual industrial projects beyond simply attending lectures, interest in the program is expected to grow further.
