Goheung County Successfully Concludes '2025 Goheung Space and Aerospace Industry Biz Festa' in Gwangju-Jeolla Region

Second Investment Briefing on Space and Aerospace Sector Following the Seoul Metropolitan Area

On December 10, the Goheung County Government in South Jeolla Province announced that it had successfully hosted the '2025 Goheung Space and Aerospace Industry Biz Festa' at the Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel in Gwangju Metropolitan City, co-organized by South Jeolla Province and Goheung County.

This event was the second investment briefing session, following the one held in October in the Seoul metropolitan area (Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province). Around 80 participants, including companies and research institutes related to the space, aerospace, and drone sectors, as well as investment institutions, attended the event. The aim was to share the potential for expanding Goheung's space and aerospace industry ecosystem and to explore strategies for industrial revitalization.

In addition, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, a specialized agency for aerospace science and technology R&D. The two parties solidified a cooperative framework for revitalizing the space and aerospace industry, including plans to exhibit actual aerospace vehicles developed by the institute at the upcoming 'Space Launch Vehicle Science Complex.'

Notably, following the investment proposal by South Jeolla Province, outstanding cases from drone-specialized companies were shared, such as Marine Robotics (CEO Park Jinhyang) presenting its 'Manned Island Logistics Delivery Drone Demonstration Success Story,' and Daon INC (CEO Yang Chanyeol) showcasing its 'AI-Based Autonomous and Swarm Flight Drone Show.' The event also introduced models for industrial cooperation between companies and local governments.

The keynote presentations included: ▲ 'Measures to Promote Private Space Company Launches' by Jung Yunseok, Director at the Korea Conformity Laboratories; ▲ 'Development of Goheung as a Space and Aerospace Complex City' by Professor Kim Yongkyu of Suncheon National University; ▲ 'Overseas Expansion Cases and Strategies for Jeonnam Drone Companies' by Lee Moonseok, CEO of Hojung Solution; and ▲ 'Introduction to Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Infrastructure at the Goheung Aviation Center' by Kim Deokgwan, Director at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. Experts highlighted the growth potential and strategies for activating the Goheung space and aerospace industry, drawing significant interest from attendees.

Gong Youngmin, Mayor of Goheung County, stated, "This Gwangju-Jeolla Region Goheung Space and Aerospace Industry Biz Festa was an opportunity to reaffirm Goheung County's future vision and potential," adding, "We will continue to expand practical cooperation models with industry, academia, and research institutes to ensure Goheung County emerges as a central hub for Korea's space and aerospace industry."

An official from the county's Space and Aerospace Promotion Team commented, "We are accelerating efforts to attract tenant companies to the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex, which is scheduled for completion by 2030, and the Unmanned Aerial Agricultural Specialization Complex, set for completion in 2026." The official added, "We will continue to build the foundation for the space industry by attracting the Second Space Center and the Space and Aerospace Industry Promotion Agency."
