Work Reports from 228 Public Institutions Across Seoul, Sejong, and Busan
Economy, Agriculture, Labor, and Data Agencies Included
Policy Direction to Be Disclosed with Full Transparency
President Lee Jaemyung will begin receiving work reports from all ministries and affiliated public institutions, starting with the Ministry of Economy and Finance. For the first time ever, the entire process of these work reports will be broadcast live. This reflects President Lee's commitment to making the direction of state affairs transparent to the public. Based on these work reports, President Lee is expected to formulate the direction for next year's national administration.
According to the Office of the President, starting on December 11, President Lee will personally receive work reports from ministries and affiliated public institutions in Sejong, Seoul, Busan, and other locations. The scope includes 228 public institutions, comprising 19 ministries, 5 offices, 18 agencies, and 7 commissions. Relevant related organizations will also participate in the reports if necessary.
The work reports will proceed with each ministry presenting its major achievements from the six months since the new administration took office, areas for improvement, and key plans to be pursued from next year onward, followed by discussions with the President. As with Cabinet meetings, the entire process will be broadcast live, with only matters requiring security, such as diplomatic or national security issues, being discussed privately. This is the first time in history that each ministry's work report will be fully disclosed to the public.
On the first day, December 11, reports from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the National Data Agency are scheduled. These will be followed by reports from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The Ministry of Economy and Finance will address next year's economic policy direction, measures to stabilize the foreign exchange market, discussions on easing the separation between banking and commerce, and support plans for investment in advanced industries. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Employment and Labor will focus on issues such as prices, people's livelihoods, and measures to reduce industrial accidents.
Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Office of the President, stated, "This round of work reports was directly instructed by President Lee to present the blueprint for state administration under the government of popular sovereignty directly to the people and to ensure swift policy implementation. Broadcasting the work reports live is a measure to share the government's governing philosophy with the public and to transparently disclose the policy implementation process."
Previously, in a Cabinet meeting on December 9, President Lee said, "We must accelerate the normalization of the nation and hasten the great transformation of Korea," adding, "Please prepare the work reports with the mindset of transparently presenting the blueprint for state affairs not only to the President, but to all citizens." President Lee has declared next year as "the starting point for the nation's great transformation," pledging structural reforms in six key areas: revitalizing the people's economy, and overhauling regulations, finance, the public sector, pensions, education, and labor.
