KORAIL announced on December 11 that all trains would operate as normal, as the Korea Railroad Workers' Union decided to postpone its strike.
It was reported that after negotiations that continued through the previous night, labor and management reached a tentative agreement on key issues, including the normalization of performance-based bonuses.
The union stated that it decided to postpone the strike and is currently engaged in intensive negotiations in order to minimize inconvenience to the public.
The main issue in the current negotiations is the normalization of performance-based bonuses. The Korea Railroad Workers' Union has made it a top priority to normalize the calculation method for performance-based bonuses, which are currently paid based on only 80% of the base salary.
