Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced on December 10 that it had referred teacher A, a career and college counseling teacher at a local high school in Gwangju, to the prosecution on charges of falsifying private documents by making false records of counseling sessions that never actually took place.
Teacher A is accused of submitting approval documents for counseling sessions that were never conducted, while concurrently serving as a career and college counseling teacher at both the middle and high schools under the same foundation.
The principal of the school also raised other issues, such as failing to record detailed information on students' career and college counseling in the student records, and arbitrarily using operational funds for career and college counseling education without reporting or obtaining approval. As a result, the principal requested an audit at the end of last year.
Based on the principal's request, the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education conducted an audit and found some of the allegations against teacher A to be true, subsequently requesting a police investigation.
In response, teacher A claimed that the principal had abused their authority; however, the police closed the case, determining there was no evidence of wrongdoing.
