Dongseo University to Hold Fall International Conference on Cultural Content Specialization: Generative AI and Cultural Curation in the Posthuman Era

Dongseo University will hold the Fall International Academic Conference on Cultural Content Specialization at the International Seminar Room in the UIT Building on December 11 and 12.


This year's theme is "Generative AI and Cultural Curation in the Posthuman Era," with a focus on the changes that artificial intelligence is bringing to the cultural and design ecosystem.


On the first day, Hong Jeongpyo, Professor Emeritus at Jeonbuk National University (and Distinguished Professor at Dongseo University), will deliver the keynote speech, introducing "AI and Design in an Unpredictable Era." The session will examine how the design process is being reorganized amid rapid technological change.


Special lectures will follow. Professor Li Zhenping of Beijing Film Academy will discuss the digital transformation of film and animation education in China. Na Geon, Chief Designer of Busan Metropolitan City (and Chair Professor at Dongseo University), will present "Quo vadis, Design?" highlighting the roles and responsibilities of design in a technology-driven environment.


Jeon Changbae, President of the International Association for Artificial Intelligence & Ethics (IAAE), will address creative ethics and copyright issues in the era of generative AI. Kim Kyunghwan, researcher at the German Aerospace Center, will introduce human resilience and residential models in isolated environments from the perspective of generative AI.


A panel discussion moderated by Donghyuk Choi, Professor at Dongseo University, will also be held, sharing on-site perspectives on the possibilities and ethics of generative AI, as well as challenges in the design and video sectors.


On the second day, the program will begin with Professor You Deokcheon’s "Course Spotlight," followed by research presentations from graduate students. Various studies will be introduced, including predictive models, restoration of ancient murals, real-time animation, and UX dark patterns. From December 8 to 12, the Graduate School of Design will also host "Open Critique," providing a comprehensive look at the research achievements of master's and doctoral students.


On the morning of December 11, the SDGs Design International Award will be held online. This academic conference will bring together domestic and international researchers to discuss the future of AI, design, and video content, offering an opportunity to explore new directions for creation and research amid ongoing change.
