Coupang Inc. Appoints Harold Rogers as Interim CEO
U.S. Parent Company to Lead Crisis Management Efforts
Coupang announced on December 10 that CEO Park Daejun has resigned, taking responsibility for the recent massive personal information leak involving 33.7 million cases.
Park stated, "I sincerely apologize for disappointing the public due to the recent personal information incident," and added, "I fully acknowledge my responsibility for both the occurrence and the handling of this situation, and have decided to step down from all positions."

With Park's resignation, Coupang's parent company, Coupang Inc. in the United States, has appointed Harold Rogers, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Coupang Inc., as the interim CEO of Coupang to actively manage the situation and alleviate customer concerns.
The company explained that Interim CEO Rogers will focus on addressing customer anxiety caused by the personal information leak, resolving both internal and external crises, and stabilizing the organization. Going forward, Coupang Inc. in the United States plans to take a proactive role in managing the aftermath of the personal information breach.
Coupang stated, "We deeply apologize for the concern caused by the personal information leak," and added, "We will strengthen information security and do our utmost to restore trust and prevent a recurrence."
