Yoon Hyekyung Appointed as 15th President of the National Association for General Education at Universities
The National Association for General Education at Universities has selected Dong-Eui University as its next leader for the coming year.
Dong-Eui University (President Han Suhwan) was elected as the host institution for the 2026 National Association for General Education at Universities during the 2025 regular general assembly, which was held at Camphortree Hotel & Resort in Jeju City from December 4 to 5.
The National Association for General Education at Universities is composed of the heads of general education institutions at four-year universities nationwide. A total of 136 universities (26 national and 110 private) are participating as member institutions.
With Dong-Eui University being elected as the host institution, Yoon Hyekyung, Dean of the Dong-Eui Jicheon Convergence College at Dong-Eui University, has been appointed as the 15th president of the National Association for General Education at Universities.
President-elect Yoon Hyekyung stated, "In this era of great transformation, university general education must be based on foundational liberal arts education and urgently requires system reorganization and innovative challenges to respond flexibly to rapid social changes. I will do my utmost to advance general education so that we can grow together, based on communication and solidarity."
The National Association for General Education at Universities holds an annual general assembly and workshop to discuss various methods for advancing general education and to promote mutual cooperation among member universities.
At the 2025 general assembly and workshop, the program included a keynote speech by former Minister of Education Kim Doyeon titled "The Dawn of the AI Era: Asking the Way Forward for University Education," a presentation by Kim Hyeyoung, President of the Korean Association of General Education, on "New Designs and Directions for the Development of General Education at Korean Universities," as well as presentations of outstanding regional case studies.
