On the morning of December 10 at the National Assembly, Assemblyman Han held a press conference and stated, "After completing my legislative activities over the past year and a half, I hope to step down from my position as a lawmaker and return to my original profession."
Assemblyman Han said, "Political actions that follow only factional logic are making things difficult for the people and have become obstacles to national development," adding, "I believe that only by moving beyond black-and-white thinking and factionalism can national unity be achieved."
He continued, "The unfortunate events that have continued over the past year since the imposition of martial law by the Yoon Suk Yeol administration are challenges that must be overcome for the future of the Republic of Korea," and added, "There can be no change without sacrifice. I will be the first to relinquish all vested interests, return to my original profession, and contribute to national unity and development."
He went on to say, "I intend to carry on the spirit of my ancestors, who have contributed and dedicated themselves to Korea over the past 130 years," and added, "In particular, I believe that humanitarian practice will remain a precious value that I must continue to uphold."
Assemblyman Han entered the National Assembly as the eighth candidate on the proportional representation list of the People Power Party's satellite party, 'People's Future,' in the general election held in April last year. With his resignation, he will be stepping down after serving for one year and six months.
If Assemblyman Han resigns, it is expected that Lee Sohee, former member of the Sejong City Council and next in line on the proportional representation list, will succeed him as a lawmaker.
