Ulju County in Ulsan Installs New Erosion Control Facilities at Three Wildfire-Affected Sites in Onyang-eup

Blocking Secondary Damage from Soil Outflow and Landslides
Emergency and Urgent Restoration Projects Completed in Succession

Ulju County in Ulsan has newly installed erosion control facilities at three locations in Unhwa-ri, Onyang-eup, areas affected by wildfires, to prevent secondary damage such as landslides.

This measure was implemented after the Central Joint Investigation Team, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Forest Service, conducted a detailed inspection in early April following the Onyang-eup wildfire in March, and designated three sites in need of restoration.

Ulju County installed erosion control facilities such as check dams to prevent rapid outflow in the event of soil collapse at San 69, San 100, and San 153-1 in Unhwa-ri, Onyang-eup. The main components of this project included two stream maintenance projects and one mountain erosion control project.

In addition, Ulju County completed emergency restoration work, such as stacking vegetation mats, at two locations in Unhwa-ri, Onyang-eup this year to prepare for the possibility of secondary damage in wildfire-affected areas, and also finished an urgent restoration project at one location in Jikdong-ri, Eonyang-eup.

An official from Ulju County stated, "We hope this project will help alleviate the anxiety of residents living near wildfire-affected areas," adding, "We will continue to expand erosion control facilities in wildfire-affected and landslide-prone areas to ensure the safety of our residents."
