The Green Environment Awards honor institutions, organizations, and individuals who have made significant contributions in three categories: environmental practices in daily life, conservation of the natural environment, and environmental education. The Grand Prize is awarded to the institution with the highest score.

Haenam County has consistently pursued environmental policies tailored to address the climate crisis and the specific needs of the region. In particular, it received high praise from the judges for its clear achievements in implementing carbon neutrality, resource circulation policies, the spread of Haenam-style ESG, and fostering an eco-friendly lifestyle culture.

Major accomplishments include: ▲ Establishment of the first resource circulation complex center in South Jeolla Province ▲ Introduction of reusable containers at the county's three major festivals ▲ Launch of the county-wide "Zero Waste! Haenam 515!" campaign ▲ Expansion of joint collection centers for agricultural waste to improve the rural environment ▲ Operation of mobile polystyrene compactors to reduce marine waste ▲ Expansion of low-carbon farming methods and the establishment of an agricultural research complex for climate change response.

With this award, Haenam County plans to further strengthen its position as a leading low-carbon and eco-friendly local government by actively pursuing large-scale national projects such as the Carbon Neutrality Education Center and the Green Convergence Cluster.

Son Myeongdo, Deputy County Governor, who attended the awards ceremony, stated, "This achievement was made possible by the continuous participation of our residents," and added, "We will strengthen the momentum for carbon neutrality policies and strive to make Haenam the number one region for carbon neutrality."
