"Discovered While Cleaning"... Infant's Body Found in Freezer at Japanese Entertainment Venue

Abandoned in a Freezer in a Damaged State
Japanese Police Investigate Specific Cause of Death

The discovery of an infant's body in a freezer at an entertainment establishment in Tokyo, Japan, has shocked the local community. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.

According to NHK and other Japanese media on December 8, at around 9 p.m. on December 6, a report was filed with the police stating, "While cleaning the refrigerator, something that appeared to be a baby was found" at an entertainment establishment near JR Kinshicho Station in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. The person who made the report was an employee of the establishment.

Police dispatched to the scene discovered the body of an infant estimated to be less than one year old. The body was found in a damaged state, placed inside a plastic bag and a plastic container. Some body parts were missing. Police stated that most of the remains were frozen and the gender could not be identified.

The location where the infant's body was found was a space used as both an office and a waiting area for employees of the establishment. The management stated that about 20 employees used this space daily. The freezer in question was a shared appliance, mainly used to store food and beverages.

One employee told NHK, "Although this area is known for its high crime rate, it is hard to believe that such a horrific incident has occurred."

The police are treating this as a case of corpse abandonment and are actively investigating. They have begun an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to identify the infant, and plan to expand the investigation, focusing on those connected to the establishment.
