Jonghyun Park Re-elected as 50th President of the Korea Journalists Association

Park Wins 57.6% of 6,565 Votes Cast
Defeats Koo Youngsik, Who Received 42.4%
Second Term Begins in January for Two Years

The Korea Journalists Association announced on December 8 that Jonghyun Park, the incumbent president from Segye Ilbo, has been elected in the 50th presidential election.

On this day, President-elect Park was re-elected by receiving 3,782 votes (57.6%) out of a total of 6,565 votes in the mobile voting conducted by the association from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. via KakaoTalk and text messages. He defeated candidate Koo Youngsik from OhmyNews, who received 2,783 votes (42.4%). There were 11,280 eligible voters in this election, with a voter turnout of 58.2%.


President-elect Park joined Segye Ilbo in 2000 and has served as Washington correspondent, head of the Foreign Affairs and Security Department, head of the Industry Department, and head of the Social Affairs Department 2. He was elected as the 49th president of the association in December 2023 and has served as president since then. His second term will run for two years, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.
