The volunteer event was attended by 20 members, including Shin Sujeong, Chairperson of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch and Chair of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council.

Every year, members of the Kim Geuntae Foundation Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch hold the "Sharing Love Briquettes" volunteer activity. This year, they delivered 1,200 briquettes to four energy-vulnerable households. For two of these households, which were difficult to access by car, members personally delivered the briquettes, conveying warmth and care to their neighbors.

This year, the burden of heating costs for energy-vulnerable households may increase even further due to high exchange rates driving up overall prices and significant climate uncertainty.

Shin Sujeong, Chairperson of the Kim Geuntae Foundation Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch, who organized the event, stated, "Last year, the only briquette factory in the Gwangju and Jeonnam region closed, and with rising logistics costs, the price of briquettes has increased significantly. As a result, there is a shortage of briquettes for those in need, deepening the concerns of energy-vulnerable households as winter approaches. We will strive to pay even closer attention to vulnerable groups during these difficult times."

Ko Youngim, Chair of the Buk-gu Council in Gwangju and an executive member who participated in the briquette delivery, said, "It is very meaningful to be able to deliver warmth, even if small, to places where it is needed."

Meanwhile, the Kim Geuntae Foundation Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch carries out the briquette-sharing social contribution activity every year during the memorial period to honor the legacy of the late democracy activist Kim Geuntae. This year, marking the 14th anniversary, a memorial event will be held on the 29th at Maseok Moran Park in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.
