A Multipurpose Facility with 90 Parking Spaces and Sports Amenities
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Chung Moonhun), has completed the construction of the "Ok-in 1 Public Parking Lot and Ok-in Sports Center" and will hold a completion ceremony at 2 p.m. on December 11.
The project site, located at 47-16 Ogin-dong and surrounding areas, is a neighborhood densely populated with single-family and multi-family homes. Addressing illegal parking, improving fire truck access, and establishing sports facilities accessible to everyone in daily life have long been considered key challenges.
To address residents' longstanding needs, the district began construction in 2022 and completed the work earlier this month. The facility consists of four basement levels and two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 4,997 square meters. From basement level four to the first floor above ground, a total of 90 parking spaces have been created. The second floor houses the Ok-in Sports Center, while the rooftop features a multipurpose mini sports field and a walking track, allowing all residents to enjoy both exercise and relaxation.
The Ok-in Sports Center is equipped with a screen golf facility, a park golf course, and multipurpose rooms for programs such as yoga and pilates, catering to the demand for community sports. The new facilities are expected to alleviate parking shortages and improve residents' quality of life.
The Ok-in 1 Public Parking Lot will operate on a resident-priority parking system, with applications accepted through the Jongno-gu Facilities Management Corporation website until December 8. The allocation results will be announced on December 12. The Ok-in Sports Center will open officially in March next year following a trial operation period.
Meanwhile, Jongno-gu is pursuing public parking lot projects throughout the district to ease parking shortages. In May this year, the Samcheong 1 Public Parking Lot (178 spaces) was completed, followed by the Changsin Sodam Public Parking Lot (176 spaces) in October. In the first half of next year, the Sinyeong-dong Public Parking Lot (14 spaces) will also open.
Chung Moonhun, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, "The Ok-in 1 Public Parking Lot and Sports Center is a community facility that combines convenience, leisure, and health for residents," adding, "We will continue to implement changes that residents can feel in their daily lives and strive to enhance their quality of life."
