Sookmyung Women's University Supports Fostering Female Technology Leaders

Sookmyung Women's University is joining forces with industry to expand the base of female talent in technology.

On December 1, Sookmyung Women's University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea IT Women Entrepreneurs Association at the university's Administration Building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to foster female talent in technology and realize social value. The agreement was hosted by the Sookmyung RISE Project Group and organized by the Sookmyung Women's University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation.


The signing ceremony was attended by Moon Siyeon, President of Sookmyung Women's University; Shin Jiyeong, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation; Kim Cheolyeon, Director of Planning; and Son Sehee, Director of Career Development. Representing the Korea IT Women Entrepreneurs Association were Kim Deokjae, President; Jeong Hyein and Park Seungae, Senior Vice Presidents; and Song Seokyeong, Vice President.


Through this agreement, the two organizations will collaborate in areas such as: ▲ education and research cooperation for fostering female talent in technology, ▲ development of joint industry-academic programs, and ▲ support for employment and entrepreneurship. They also plan to promote a wide range of activities to strengthen female leadership and realize social value, thereby contributing to greater diversity in the industrial ecosystem.


President Kim stated, "It is very meaningful to discuss various ways to collaborate with Sookmyung Women's University as a female entrepreneur," adding, "We will actively cooperate to provide practical support, such as building human networks for students' successful employment and hosting collaborative forums."


President Moon said, "Cultivating female talent in IT and technology innovation is an important task for our society," and added, "Sookmyung Women's University is actively running research and entrepreneurship programs, particularly in the College of Engineering, and we look forward to achieving meaningful results through programs in partnership with the association."


Sookmyung Women's University is continuously expanding its foundation for nurturing female talent in technology by strengthening education and research in cutting-edge fields such as robotics and autonomous driving. The university plans to use this agreement as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation with the association and bring about positive changes throughout the education and industrial ecosystems.
