An incident occurred in which a man in his 30s, who was the subject of an arrest warrant for fraud, died after jumping from a lodging facility during a police arrest operation.
According to police and other sources on December 3, at around 1:12 p.m. that day, a man in his 30s, identified as A, fell to his death from a seventh-floor room at a lodging facility in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju.
A, who was facing fraud charges, reportedly fell after climbing out the window during the execution of an arrest warrant by the Dongbu Police Station in Daegu.
At the time, A was staying inside the room with the door locked, and when the police arrived, it was found that he climbed out of the window on his own.
A, who was unconscious, was transported to the hospital by fire authorities and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
Since A has died, the Gwangju regional police have taken charge of investigating both the cause of death and the circumstances of the incident.
