The public parking lot, which began construction on this day, will have a total floor area of 4,656 square meters, spanning from two basement levels to two above-ground floors. The parking facility will be built as a four-level parking tower, from the first basement to the second above-ground floor, accommodating 184 parking spaces. Completion is scheduled for the second half of 2026.

The project site is a densely populated residential area located at the boundary between Gwangodong and Jungnidong. This area has long suffered from a chronic shortage of parking spaces due to a high rate of private vehicle use and numerous aging buildings, resulting in insufficient parking infrastructure.

In addition to this project, the city is also gradually expanding parking facilities in other areas such as Jeungpodong, Changjeondong, Galsandong, Jungnicheon-ro, and the Ami district of Bubal-eup, according to the specific conditions of each region.

In particular, the city is introducing a variety of approaches to secure additional parking. In July, two public open parking lots with a total of 90 spaces were established by utilizing idle land within the Majang residential district in Majang-myeon. In August, the temporary public parking lot at Bubal Station was expanded from 200 to 472 spaces by utilizing railway land owned by the National Railroad Authority. In September, a total of 74 temporary public parking spaces were created and are currently being operated in Changjeondong through a business agreement with Icheon Nonghyup.

Kim Kyunghee, Mayor of Icheon, stated, "We will continue to pursue various measures to expand insufficient parking infrastructure throughout the city," adding, "We aim to create a pleasant urban environment through practical, community-oriented parking policies that citizens can truly feel."
