The prosecution has requested supplementary investigation from the police regarding the alleged violations of the Public Official Election Act and other charges by former Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, Lee Jinsook.
On December 1, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office announced to the media, "We have requested additional investigation from the Yeongdeungpo Police Station, as there is a need for further inquiry into some of the suspected violations of the Public Official Election Act and the State Public Officials Act by former Chairperson Lee, which were referred by the police."
Former Chairperson Lee is suspected of making politically biased remarks or engaging in preliminary electioneering through conservative-leaning YouTube channels between September and October last year and March and April this year, in violation of the Public Official Election Act and the State Public Officials Act.
The police, who are investigating the case, referred former Chairperson Lee without detention on November 19.
