Threatening an Acquaintance with a Weapon
Victim States "I Do Not Wish to Press Charges"
A former member of the Chungnam Provincial Council affiliated with the People Power Party, identified as Mr. A (in his 60s), was arrested by police at the scene for threatening a woman in her 50s with a weapon at a real estate agency.
The Boryeong Police Station in Chungnam announced on November 30 that Mr. A had been arrested and is under investigation on charges of assault for threatening a woman in her 50s with a weapon.
According to coverage by The Asia Business Daily, Mr. A is suspected of threatening Ms. B (a woman in her 50s), who operates a real estate office in Boryeong, Chungnam, with a weapon at around 2:26 p.m. on November 29.
Police, responding to a report from Ms. B, reviewed CCTV footage at the scene, captured the moment Mr. A made the threat, and arrested him at the scene.
During the police investigation, Ms. B refused to provide a detailed statement and reportedly does not wish to press charges against Mr. A.
It is known that Mr. A and Ms. B are acquaintances.
Mr. A is a former member of the Chungnam Provincial Council and is being mentioned as a potential candidate for Boryeong mayor in next year's local elections.
A police official stated, "We cannot disclose details about an ongoing investigation."
