"Investigating the Leak Route and Scope of Damage"
Amid a massive personal information leak involving over 30 million cases at Coupang, the leading e-commerce company in South Korea, the police have secured internal Coupang documents and are tracking down suspects.

On November 30, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit announced that it had received and begun analyzing materials related to the incident, including server logs, which were voluntarily submitted by Coupang.
There are suspicions that the incident was caused by a former Coupang employee of Chinese nationality who leaked the data. A police official stated, "We are working to accurately determine the leak route and the extent of the damage."
On November 25, Coupang filed a complaint with the police, requesting an investigation into an "unidentified individual" on charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act by intruding into the information and communications network. Coupang initially reported on November 18 that it had discovered unauthorized exposure of personal information from about 4,500 accounts, but subsequent investigations revealed that the number of affected accounts was 33.7 million.
Coupang explained that while customer names, email addresses, and information entered in delivery address books were leaked, payment information and login credentials were not among the compromised data. On the same day, Coupang CEO Park Daejoon apologized, stating, "We sincerely apologize to Coupang customers and the public who have been affected and concerned by this incident."
