Jensen Huang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nvidia, who is working closely with Taiwan's TSMC, has reportedly visited Taiwan once again. This marks his fifth visit to Taiwan this year.
On November 28, the United Daily News in Taiwan, citing sources, reported that CEO Huang visited Taiwan during the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday and was seen dining with his spouse and daughter at a restaurant near Xiping Street in northern Taipei the previous day.
After spending about 40 minutes at the restaurant, CEO Huang reportedly headed to the Dazhi area of Taipei, where the home of TSMC founder Morris Chang-who is said to be in poor health-is located.
The source indicated that CEO Huang's latest visit to Taiwan appears to be aimed at meeting with TSMC founder Morris Chang, who was unable to attend TSMC's annual sports event on November 8 due to health issues.
It was also reported that CEO Huang had previously stated he would visit Taiwan again as soon as possible to meet with TSMC founder Morris Chang following the TSMC sports event, making this his fifth trip to Taiwan this year.
Taiwanese media noted that Nvidia plans to establish an overseas branch headquarters in Taipei's Beitou and Shilin Science Parks, on a scale comparable to its Silicon Valley headquarters in the United States. There is growing interest in whether CEO Huang will meet with Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an.
The new overseas branch headquarters of Nvidia will serve as a 'science and technology corridor' in Taiwan, alongside the company's existing Taiwan branch office in Taipei's Neihu Science Park and the Nangang research and development (R&D) center scheduled to open by the end of this year.
Taiwanese media also reported that Nvidia is considering connecting five major hubs-including a new office in Hsinchu focused on collaboration with Taiwanese semiconductor companies such as TSMC and MediaTek, and a 'generative sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) office' set for completion at the Awang Banana Pier in Kaohsiung by the end of this year-to build an AI chip design and supply chain cooperation network with Taiwan.
