"A Serious Crime That Could Cause Confusion Over Government Policy"

The police have launched a preliminary investigation into a fake public address that impersonated President Lee Jaemyung.

The National Investigation Headquarters announced on November 27 through a press release, "A post impersonating the President, claiming an 'increase in overseas stock capital gains tax rates and the introduction of a new property holding tax,' is being circulated online and elsewhere."


The National Investigation Headquarters emphasized, "This is a serious criminal act involving false information impersonating the President, which could cause significant confusion regarding government policy," adding, "We will track the source of the distribution and take strict action in accordance with the law."


The preliminary investigation will be handled by the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
