Highly Praised for Resource and Energy Savings
Global ESG Management Achievements Recognized
Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced that its Busan plant received the Minister of Climate and Energy Environment Award in the Outstanding Green Company category at the "2025 Green Management and Green Finance Excellence Awards" held on the 27th, organized by the Ministry of Climate and Energy Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.
The term "Outstanding Green Company" refers to companies and business sites that have contributed to establishing a green management system based on cooperative partnerships between the government and the private sector. Samsung Electro-Mechanics was first listed in this category in 2011 and has since been selected as an outstanding green company a total of four times.
In this year's evaluation, the Busan plant of Samsung Electro-Mechanics was highly praised for its differentiated green management achievements, including resource and energy savings, waste reduction, and transparent public disclosure of environmental information.
In particular, Samsung Electro-Mechanics significantly reduced wastewater emissions at the Busan plant by improving its water treatment processes and building new treatment facilities. The company is also promoting resource circulation activities, such as installing solar power generation facilities, expanding water reuse, and introducing dust-proof uniforms made by upcycling PET film used in multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) production. The "MLCC PET Film Dust-Proof Uniform" is regarded as a leading example of establishing a virtuous cycle system that goes beyond simple waste disposal by utilizing discarded waste as new resources.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been included in the "DJBIC World Index" for 16 consecutive years, a first in Korea, and was the first in its domestic industry to receive "carbon footprint" certification. The company has also been included in the FTSE4Good Index for 15 consecutive years and has been awarded the CDP Korea Hall of Fame Platinum. In addition, all of its domestic and overseas sites have received "Zero Waste to Landfill" certification, demonstrating its commitment to ESG management.
Choi Jongmin, Executive Director and Head of the Safety and Environment Team at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, stated, "Samsung Electro-Mechanics practices environmental management by comprehensively managing all stages from production to disposal of products, as well as distribution and logistics." He added, "We will continue to minimize environmental impact and promote a variety of environmental conservation activities going forward."
