18-Story Building to Rise Near Yangjae Station... Quantum Research Center to Become Technology Hub [Real Estate AtoZ] Location map of the transit-oriented revitalization project area at 914-1 Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu. Seoul City

A mixed-use building with 18 floors above ground will be constructed in the area around Yangjae Station in Seoul. A quantum research center will also be established, with plans to develop it as a core facility for research and development (R&D) in future technology fields.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 27th that it had approved with amendments the “Transit-Oriented Revitalization Project District Unit Plan Designation and Plan Decision (Draft) for the area around 914-1 Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu” at the 19th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting.

The site is located approximately 350 meters from Yangjae Station. Under this plan, a mixed-use building with seven underground floors and 18 floors above ground will be constructed.

The lower floors will be allocated for street-activating uses such as neighborhood living facilities, and pedestrian spaces will be created in connection with public open spaces.

In addition, as a public contribution facility, the Seoul Quantum Hub (Quantum Research Center) will be established, with major domestic and international R&D companies expected to move in. The city expects this facility to serve as the central hub of the “Yangjae R&D Strategic Base,” leading future technology sectors such as quantum computing and quantum communications.

Following this decision, the project will proceed through the necessary permitting processes, including review by the Building Committee, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of next year and completion targeted for 2029.

A Seoul city official stated, “With this plan, the Yangjae Station area will be reborn as an urban innovation hub that attracts creative talent, introducing not only core business facilities but also the public contribution facility of the Quantum Research Center. We expect it to develop as a key axis of future-leading industries such as quantum computing, in connection with the artificial intelligence (AI) industrial ecosystem in the Gangnam area.”
