Geochang County Launches First Official Export of Shine Muscat Grapes to Taiwan

8 Tons of High-Quality Shine Muscat Grapes
To Be Supplied to Local Retail Stores and Supermarkets in Taiwan

Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 26th that a shipment ceremony was held for Geochang Shine Muscat grapes being exported to Taiwan, attended by County Governor Koo Inmo, representatives of fruit tree cooperatives, grape export farmers, and about 30 other participants at the grape sorting facility of the Northwestern Gyeongnam Regional Produce Distribution Center (APC).

This shipment consists of 8 tons of high-quality Shine Muscat grapes with a Brix level of 16 or higher, which will be supplied to local retail stores and supermarkets in Taiwan.

Additionally, approximately five more shipments are planned at intervals of 10 to 15 days, with a total of 40 tons scheduled to be exported this year, which is expected to further increase export performance.

Geochang Shine Muscat grapes are highly favored both domestically and in Taiwan due to their high sugar content, consistent quality, and systematic production management.

In particular, despite a challenging market environment this year caused by a decline in domestic Shine Muscat prices and sluggish consumption, local farmers achieved stable export volumes and expanded overseas markets through organized quality control and proactive overseas marketing by export companies.

Governor Koo Inmo stated, "Geochang Shine Muscat grapes are gaining a strong reputation overseas thanks to excellent cultivation techniques and thorough quality control," and expressed his gratitude to the production farmers and export companies who maintained quality competitiveness despite difficult circumstances.

He also added, "Geochang County will strengthen administrative support to increase farm income, including expanding overseas sales channels and supporting export logistics."

Meanwhile, Geochang County plans to reinforce its export production base by designating a grape export quarantine complex for 2026 and, based on this, will actively pursue expansion into new overseas markets such as the United States.
