The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 24th that the phone call between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping took place at the request of the United States.
During a briefing on the 25th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated regarding the previous day's call between the two leaders, "This call was initiated by the United States, and the atmosphere was positive, friendly, and constructive." She added, "The two leaders communicated on issues of mutual interest, which is extremely important for the stability and development of China-U.S. relations."
President Trump and President Xi reaffirmed their commitment to stabilizing bilateral relations during their call on the previous day, which came about a month after their summit in Busan on October 30. President Trump invited President Xi to visit China in April next year, and President Xi accepted the invitation. President Xi is expected to make a state visit to the United States after that.
China emphasized the remarks made by both leaders regarding the Taiwan issue. According to reports, President Xi stated that the "return of Taiwan" is a key component of the postwar international order, while President Trump noted, "China played an important role in securing victory in World War II, and the United States understands the significance of the Taiwan issue for China."

It can also be seen as the United States, through the words of its president-Japan's closest ally-expressing at least an intention not to actively intervene in the Taiwan issue.
Meanwhile, in addition to bilateral relations, the two leaders also discussed international issues such as the situation in Ukraine. Given that the United States and Ukraine announced the establishment of a "peace framework" to end the war in Ukraine in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 23rd, the day before the call, it is likely that President Trump explained these developments to President Xi.
