Police Officer Who Inspired Ma Dongseok's Character in "The Outlaws" Involved in Drunk Driving Accident in Gangnam, Seoul

A police officer, known as the real-life model for actor Ma Dongseok's character in the movie "The Outlaws," was apprehended by police after causing an accident while driving under the influence.


According to the police and other sources on November 25, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul booked Inspector A, who is affiliated with the same station, on charges of drunk driving in violation of the Road Traffic Act the previous day.


Inspector A is accused of driving under the influence around 8:30 p.m. the previous day and causing a minor collision near Gangnam Severance Hospital in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. No injuries were reported.


At the time, Inspector A's blood alcohol concentration was at the license revocation level (0.08% or higher). The police are currently investigating the specific circumstances of the incident.


Separately from the criminal investigation, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has suspended Inspector A from duty and is conducting an internal audit.


Inspector A previously appeared on a TV variety program, where he was identified as the real-life figure who dismantled the "Wanggeoni-pa" crime organization depicted in "The Outlaws," and as the real-life model for actor Ma Dongseok's character in the film.
