Jinju Mayor Joo Kyuil Makes All-Out Effort at National Assembly to Secure Government Funding for Key Local Projects

Proposal for National Funding Inclusion for the Jinju Branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall Construction

Jinju City, South Gyeongsang Province, announced that Mayor Joo Kyuil visited the National Assembly on November 24 to actively advocate for the inclusion of national funding for major local projects, making every effort to secure government support.

This visit by Mayor Joo was carried out as part of the final adjustment process after the government’s budget proposal was submitted to the National Assembly, aiming to ensure national funding for key projects in the fields of culture, tourism, and aerospace.

On that day, Mayor Joo met with Kim Daesik, Jung Jeomsik, and Choi Hyungdu, members of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, explaining that Jinju’s long-standing projects are essential for future strategic industries and balanced regional development, and requested their active support.

The main projects proposed include: ▲ Construction of the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall ▲ Establishment of a Jinju branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art ▲ Construction of the Western Gyeongnam Music Creation Center ▲ Support for hosting the Korea Drama Festival ▲ Establishment of the National Geology Heritage Center ▲ Development of an AI platform for safety evaluation of next-generation dual-use (civil-military) aircraft ▲ Construction of a specialized 3D printing technology integration support center for the space industry.

Mayor Joo emphasized, "Jinju is the birthplace of entrepreneurship in Korea and a cultural hub in the southern region, and it is emerging as a key base for the national aerospace industry. Whether or not the 2026 budget includes these projects will be a critical turning point that determines Jinju’s next decade and serves as a watershed for national projects directly linked to Korea’s economic, cultural, and aerospace development strategies." He called for special attention and support from the lawmakers.

He added, "Since the beginning of this year, we have made every effort to secure national funding through multiple visits to central government agencies and the National Assembly, and we will focus our administrative capabilities to ensure these efforts bear fruit."

Jinju City plans to continue its all-out efforts to secure national funding through close cooperation with lawmakers and central government agencies until the budget review by the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts is completed.
