The 8th Policy Advisory Committee is characterized by expanded diversity in its composition, the incorporation of practical field opinions, and the ability to provide flexible and prompt advice by area of work. The committee is organized into ten subcommittees in line with the ministry's organizational restructuring. The number of members per subcommittee has been increased from 20 to 40, and the proportion of members from businesses and civil society has grown significantly. The ratio of business and civil society members has been adjusted from 10.5% in the 7th committee to 40.1% in the 8th committee.

Additionally, members of the "Ministry of the Interior and Safety 2030 Advisory Group" have been appointed as concurrent members to actively reflect the voices of the younger generation. Each subcommittee can operate its own working groups autonomously, enabling flexible and prompt advisory activities. For issues that span more than two subcommittees, a "Special Committee" will conduct integrated discussions.

The 8th Policy Advisory Committee will be chaired by Kim Jonggeol, a professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Hanyang University. Professor Kim is an expert in the field of sustainable economy, with both expertise and hands-on experience, having served as a member of the Planning and Budget Committee under the Prime Minister's Office and as a member of the Cooperative Policy Deliberation Committee at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Professor Kim suggested, "For the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to build future response capabilities, it should establish a 'five-year strategy' and 'annual performance indicators' to consistently measure outcomes."

Minister Yoon Hojung also stated, "I hope that the 8th Policy Advisory Committee, composed of members with expertise and diverse experience, will bring new perspectives and practical proposals to the ministry's overall policies."
