Jaeyoung Solutec announced on November 24 that it has acquired patents for two core technologies aimed at enhancing camera module performance. The newly secured patents cover: ▲ a camera module utilizing a spring-type flexible printed circuit board (FPCB), and ▲ a camera module technology featuring a tilting-type optical image stabilization (OIS) function.
The first patent addresses the limitations of conventional metal spring structures. Traditional metal springs are prone to fatigue accumulation during repeated operations, which increases the risk of breakage and can cause foreign substances to develop due to interference with plastic components. There have also been concerns about the risk of electrical short circuits, highlighting the need for improvement. Jaeyoung Solutec explained that by applying a flexible spring based on a polymer film instead of metal, these issues can be resolved with this patent.
Polymer film is a material used in various industries, known for its excellent wear resistance, flexibility, and heat resistance. It allows for free circuit pattern design, which improves actuator control efficiency. Its simple structure helps reduce product height and lowers costs. Compared to conventional ball-type and spring-type designs, it offers greater design flexibility, making it applicable to a wide range of fields, including mobile cameras.
The second patent covers a tilting-type OIS technology that utilizes a bearing structure. Previous methods often suffered from performance degradation due to ball displacement or friction-induced loss of driving force. The patented technology integrates bearing technology to minimize friction loss, improve assembly and versatility, and enhance cost competitiveness for tilting actuators. It also shows strong potential for use in areas requiring precise control.
A Jaeyoung Solutec representative stated, "These patented technologies lay the foundation for expanding beyond mobile into high value-added markets. We will quickly develop use cases in new markets and broaden the scope of our technology applications."
