Fire at Restaurant and Guesthouse Building on Hauido, Sinan Causes Property Damage of Around 90 Million Won

Fire Believed to Have Started in Cold Storage
Blaze Extinguished After 4 Hours and 40 Minutes, One Resident Injured

A fire broke out in a building housing restaurants and guesthouses on Hauido Island in Sinan County, South Jeolla Province, resulting in property damage estimated at around 90 million won.

According to the Sinan Fire Department, the fire began at around 8:11 p.m. the previous day in a cold storage area of a restaurant building in Haui-myeon. The flames spread to a nearby two-story building, completely destroying the cold storage and the restaurant on the first floor, and partially damaging the guesthouse on the second floor. The fire department estimated the total damage at approximately 92 million won.

Two fire trucks and 12 firefighters were dispatched to extinguish the blaze, which was fully put out at around 12:51 a.m., about 4 hours and 40 minutes later. During the firefighting operation, a local resident, identified as A (57), sustained an injury to his palm and received treatment.

The fire authorities believe the blaze started in the cold storage and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
