Fire at Closed Factory in Pyeongtaek Contained in Three Hours, No Casualties Reported

A fire that broke out at a closed factory in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, was extinguished after about three hours.

At approximately 11:31 a.m. on November 23, a fire occurred at a printer and multifunction device parts factory in Poseung-eup, Pyeongtaek. The factory was no longer in operation at the time.

The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response due to concerns about the fire spreading. A total of 35 firefighting vehicles and 105 personnel were deployed, and the main blaze was brought under control at around 2:37 p.m., roughly three hours after the fire started.

It was confirmed that the factory had been vacant since its closure. No casualties were reported.

A police official stated, "The factory declared bankruptcy last month, and there had been no workers present even before that. The electricity had been cut off as well. While some may suspect arson for insurance purposes, there is no record of any insurance coverage."

The police and fire authorities plan to conduct a thorough investigation into the exact cause and circumstances of the fire after it has been completely extinguished.
