At the opening ceremony, Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, announced that the budget for the second half Bold Sale was increased from the initial remaining budget of 3 billion won by adding an additional 2 billion won through a supplementary budget, bringing the total to 5 billion won. This is a threefold increase compared to last year’s 4 billion won, bringing this year’s total to 12 billion won.
Governor Kim stated, "The impact of the Bold Sale goes beyond the 12 billion won budget, as merchants spend the money again, creating a multiplier effect. The Bold Sale to Revive Gyeonggi is not just a simple discount or sales event, but a catalyst that injects vitality into local commercial districts and helps restore the livelihoods of residents."
Governor Kim also shared, "My father used to sell goods at Jungang Market in Sindang-dong, Seoul. After my father passed away, our family faced great hardships, and my mother ran a street stall at Moran Market in Seongnam." He added, "Because both my father and mother worked hard for many years to support our family in the markets, I feel truly at ease whenever I visit a traditional market. It gives me a sense of real life, and that's why I always enjoy coming here," expressing his affection for traditional markets.
After the opening ceremony, Governor Kim visited Uijeongbu Jeil Market, where he purchased fruits and vegetables using Gyeonggi local currency and listened to feedback from the field.
Gyeonggi Province expanded the support for the second half Bold Sale by adding 2 billion won, bringing the total to 5.2 billion won, and greatly enhanced convenience for participating commercial districts and consumers by introducing automatic local currency payback. A total of 429 commercial districts are participating in the event, and the system has been revamped so that when consumers make a payment of 20,000 won or more with local currency, they receive an immediate automatic refund, eliminating the inconvenience of carrying paper receipts to exchange counters.
For local currency payments, an automatic payback of up to 20% per transaction, up to 30,000 won per day, and up to 120,000 won during the entire event period will be provided. The payback received can be used until December 31.
To further maximize the effect of boosting consumption, public delivery app discounts will be offered simultaneously. During the event, a 5,000 won discount coupon will be issued for orders of 20,000 won or more on three apps-Baedal Teukgeup, Ttaenggyeoyo, and Meokgaebi-raising expectations for increased sales in food service-focused commercial districts.
