Rural Innovation Model Wins Local Era Committee Chairman’s Institutional Award
Uiseong County has once again received national recognition as a key model for balanced development policies.
On November 20, Uiseong County (Mayor Jusoo Kim) was selected as an outstanding local government in the autonomous account category at the "2025 Balanced Development Project Best Practices Awards and Performance Presentation," hosted by the Local Era Committee and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. The county received the Local Era Committee Chairman's Institutional Award.
In addition, both public officials and private participants were awarded individual commendations for their contributions, recognizing the collaborative achievements throughout the entire project process.
This awards ceremony evaluates the previous year's performance of projects funded by the National Balanced Development Special Account and selects outstanding local governments. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious programs for sharing the results and competitiveness of Local Era policies.
This year, the reason behind Uiseong County's award was the "Uiseong Growth Center," established through the Rural Central Area Revitalization Project.
The Uiseong Growth Center serves as an integrated living platform combining child care, parent education, and local community revitalization. It presents a new rural growth model in which educational, cultural, and leisure functions are organically connected.
In particular, the center was highly praised for building an open, community-based platform used by children, parents, and local residents together, thereby effectively realizing the national policy goals of "localizing care" and "balanced development centered on living areas."
Jusoo Kim, Mayor of Uiseong County, stated, "This award is the result of rural innovation achieved together by the residents and the administration. We will continue to expand living SOC and community-based projects that reflect local needs, creating a future Uiseong where both children and adults can be happy."
