President Lee Arrives in South Africa for G20... Bilateral Talks with France and Germany Yonhap News

President Lee Jaemyung arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 21 (local time) to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit.


Starting on the morning of November 22, President Lee will participate in the summit sessions, which are being held under the theme of "Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability."


In the first session, President Lee will join discussions on "Inclusive and Sustainable Growth That Leaves No One Behind," focusing on the role of economic growth and trade, as well as development financing. The second session will address disaster risk reduction and climate change, while the third session will cover key minerals, quality jobs, and artificial intelligence.


Notably, in his address to the summit, President Lee is expected to outline Korea's role in the international community, as well as his vision for a "Basic Society for Artificial Intelligence (AI)" and "Inclusive Growth and Fiscal Policy."


Meetings with other world leaders are also scheduled. President Lee plans to hold a summit with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss economic and security issues. He will also meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to explore ways to strengthen economic cooperation in response to changes in the international economic order.


A meeting is also planned with the leaders of the MIKTA group-an alliance of five middle-power countries led by Korea, including Mexico, Indonesia, T?rkiye, and Australia.


After the conclusion of the G20 Summit, President Lee will wrap up his three-day visit to South Africa with a meeting with Korean expatriates. He will then travel to T?rkiye, the final destination of his tour of four countries in the Middle East and Africa.
