Furniture and Art Fusion Exhibition Runs Until the 30th

Seoul Auction announced on the 21st that it will host the third series of its 'Art & Furniture' exhibition, titled 'WHEN THE HOUSE READS - Time of Books and Houses,' featuring furniture by Park Jongseon, the furniture designer for the film 'Parasite.' The exhibition will be held on the 4th basement floor of the Seoul Auction Gangnam Center until the 30th.

This exhibition, themed 'A House Built by Hand, A Space Where Thoughts Linger,' highlights the 'grain of time' and 'traces of contemplation' that exist between furniture and works of art. Park Jongseon, who is featured prominently in the exhibition, is known for blending the craftsmanship of traditional wooden furniture with a modern aesthetic to create 'furniture where time stays.' Through global art fairs, he has introduced Korean design to the world, and he is widely recognized for his work on the furniture art in the film 'Parasite.'

Park Jongseon strictly excludes unnecessary decorations and sculptural elements infused with excessive artistic imagination from his furniture. This exhibition presents a diverse range of his works, which respect the natural qualities of wood while embodying precise and understated efficiency.

In addition, the exhibition features works by major artists from Korea and abroad, including George Nakashima, Frank Lloyd Wright, Anish Kapoor, Jean-Michel Othoniel, David Hockney, and Ko Younghoon.

Throughout the exhibition space, lists of 'My Books' recommended by participating artists, art collectors, and various art enthusiasts are displayed alongside the books themselves. This allows visitors not only to view the artworks, but also to read and spend time in the space, experiencing moments of contemplation. The exhibition space is also filled with the scent 'Ink,' created by British perfumer Lyn Harris.

A representative from Seoul Auction stated, "The home is my small universe, and furniture and books are mediums that capture the time of life within it. We hope that through this exhibition, which combines sight, touch, and smell, visitors will go beyond mere appreciation and experience a profound moment of contemplation as they linger in the space."
