Imsil County in North Jeolla Province has officially begun preparations for chrysanthemum cultivation for next fall's exhibition.

According to the county on the 21st, it plans to systematically establish next year's cultivation plan by thoroughly analyzing the flowering period, growth characteristics by variety, and the impact of weather conditions accumulated during this year's chrysanthemum cultivation process.

In particular, the "Imsil-style chrysanthemum cultivation technology," which enabled stable flowering despite adverse conditions such as abnormal high temperatures, prolonged monsoon, and heavy rainfall this year, is drawing significant attention.

The county has accumulated systematic cultivation techniques over many years, including 10-day interval growth management, collection of growth data by variety, technology to cope with heat and humidity stress, and a real-time monitoring system by a professional cultivation team.

Imsil County chrysanthemums have consistently been recognized for their vivid colors, uniform bud size, and excellent ability to maintain their shape throughout the exhibition period.

Next year, chrysanthemum production will proceed on a similar scale to this year. A total of 43,700 potted chrysanthemums will be produced through private outsourcing, while 400 hanging chrysanthemums will be cultivated directly at the local agricultural demonstration field.

Additionally, the county plans to create a more splendid and diverse exhibition atmosphere by arranging square and round pots in seven colors, including yellow, pink, red, and orange.

In particular, the proportion of mixed pots will be increased from 24% to 30% to enhance the depth and three-dimensionality of the colors. The arrangement of round and square pots will also be further subdivided according to the exhibition route to strengthen the overall sense of stability and balance in the exhibition space.

This year's chrysanthemum cultivation faced challenges such as poor growth and pest outbreaks due to persistently hot and humid conditions, including abnormal high temperatures, a prolonged rainy season, and heavy rainfall in August.

The county plans to analyze these weather conditions and select varieties capable of stable flowering even during hot periods next year. It will also strengthen water and nutrient management at each growth stage to ensure timely flowering during the festival period.

County Governor Shim Min stated, "Next year, we will do our utmost to present an even more abundant and beautiful chrysanthemum exhibition at Imsil Cheese Theme Park and Okjeongho Bungoisland, so that Imsil can be reborn as one of Korea's top autumn destinations."
