A 24-Day Festival of Chrysanthemums
from October 24 to November 16
"A Love as Deep as the Meaning of the Flower"
The city of Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, announced that the 21st Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival, held at the Jungbu Plaza area of Hwangsan Park from October 24 to November 16, concluded successfully.
This year’s festival showcased more than 65,000 chrysanthemum works, lovingly cultivated by the city of Yangsan over the past year, to the public.
The festival venue was filled with an abundance of works, including around 300 bonsai pieces such as lotus root bonsai, stone bonsai, and wood bonsai; 500 multi-wheel and hanging sculptures; 2,000 large chrysanthemum pieces; and 62,200 small chrysanthemum pieces.
The sculptures harmoniously blended various themes, including Yangsan’s history and traditions-such as the 2026 Yangsan Year of Tourism mascots "Hoyit" and "Ppuyong," the Sapnyang Gate, Blue Dragon, Yellow Dragon, and pagodas-as well as amusement park themes with carousels and Ferris wheels, and winter themes featuring igloos, snowmen, and penguins. These displays drew enthusiastic responses from many visitors.
During the festival, lighting was expanded to allow nighttime viewing until 9 p.m. For the first time this year, interactive booths were operated, offering activities such as bubble play, sand play, traditional culture experiences, and Halloween programs, which greatly increased satisfaction among family visitors.
Autumn flowers also bloomed beautifully throughout Hwangsan Park during the festival. In addition to yellow cosmos, the Jungbu Plaza was adorned with colorful zinnias and verbenas in full bloom, while the adjacent gourd tunnel showcased a variety of gourds, providing plenty to see. Around the West Plaza, clusters of red Kochia, each over one meter tall, added to the autumn atmosphere and captivated visitors.
After the chrysanthemum festival ended, on the 17th, the city distributed chrysanthemum plants to local government offices in towns and districts. The festival site, especially around Jungbu Plaza and key pathways in Hwangsan Park, will be reorganized, and starting from late December, the "3rd Hwangsan Park Light Garden" will be launched to offer citizens and tourists a variety of nighttime attractions to enjoy during winter.
The Light Garden will feature non-neon lighting installations using chrysanthemum sculptures, Christmas and winter-themed decorations, and a variety of colorful lighting effects to illuminate Hwangsan Park throughout the winter. This initiative is part of efforts to expand year-round park content in connection with the chrysanthemum festival.
An official from Yangsan City stated, "This year’s Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival concluded safely thanks to the enthusiastic support of many citizens and visitors," adding, "Even after the festival, we will continue to expand various content, including the Light Garden, to make Hwangsan Park a premium park that can be enjoyed in all seasons."
