Korea PIM, the nation's leading company in Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology, announced on November 20 that it held discussions on the commercialization of materials used in humanoid robot hands with a major domestic conglomerate at 'RoboWorld,' the largest robotics exhibition in Korea.
During the exhibition, Korea PIM operated its own booth, showcasing not only its main products but also its unique ultra-precision humanoid material mass production technology, 'Micro MIM,' used for humanoid robot reducers. Representatives from major domestic automotive and IT conglomerates, as well as from the Korean branches of global companies from the United States and Japan, visited the booth and showed significant interest in Korea PIM's technologies. Meetings were held with some of these companies.
The company with which Korea PIM discussed commercialization of humanoid materials is a major domestic conglomerate that holds numerous references for supplying to global top-tier companies. The discussions focused on commercializing Korea PIM's Micro MIM and titanium-based technologies, both of which are suitable for humanoid applications.
Korea PIM has secured a number of core technologies for humanoid robots. For humanoid robots to achieve precise movements, it is essential to use ultra-small reducers under 20mm in size, and the ability to mass-produce such products is considered a competitive edge. By applying its proprietary Micro MIM technology, Korea PIM can mass-produce ultra-precision materials as small as 3mm or less, and by utilizing titanium-based technology, it can achieve material lightweighting.
A Korea PIM representative stated, "While ultra-precision products are applied to humanoid robot hands, the products of domestic and international reducer specialists participating in the exhibition were mostly medium and large-sized reducers. The ability to mass-produce ultra-precision materials and achieve lightweighting drew significant interest from both domestic and international companies, and we held in-depth meetings with a domestic conglomerate regarding the commercialization of humanoid robot hands."
He added, "We will continue follow-up sales activities with the companies we held discussions with and with exhibition visitors, aiming to achieve results in the field of humanoid robot hands."
