The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, metropolitan and basic local governments from across the country, and related organizations.

During the first session, the Ministry of Health and Welfare presented ministerial commendations and awards to local governments selected in the "2025 Regional Plan for Korean Medicine Development Best Practices Contest," followed by presentations of the best practices.

In the metropolitan local government category, North Jeolla Province received the grand prize, while North Gyeongsang Province was awarded the excellence prize.

In the basic local government category, Gyeongsan City was selected for the grand prize.

The second session shared the analysis results of the regional plans submitted by each local government for 2025 and provided detailed and practical guidelines and directions to support the establishment of the 2026 regional plans.

Jung Young-hoon, Director of Korean Medicine Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, stated, "Since 2026 marks the establishment of the 5th Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Korean Medicine, it is necessary for local governments to align their regional plans accordingly. In particular, as the role of Korean medicine expands in the government’s key initiatives-such as AI-based healthcare innovation, the pilot project for Korean medicine doctors as primary care physicians for the elderly, and strengthening local primary healthcare-I hope these will be actively reflected and promoted at the regional level as well."

Song Sujin, Acting President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, said, "Despite various practical constraints such as budget, personnel, and infrastructure, the active participation of local governments enabled the stable implementation of the projects."
