SPG announced on the 29th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LG Science Park, LG’s open innovation hub, for “technological cooperation and business opportunity development in high-efficiency actuators and reducers for robots.”
The agreement was signed on the 18th at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul.
The goal is to accelerate technological cooperation and commercialization in the field of high-efficiency actuators and reducers by linking SPG’s expertise in reducers with LG’s demand for robotics and motion-related technologies.
Based on its technological capabilities in robot reducers and actuators, SPG will actively participate in providing technical information and identifying collaboration opportunities, and will supply samples and technical data as needed.
LG Science Park, serving as LG’s external collaboration gateway, will collect technology and business needs from LG affiliates and play a role in identifying and coordinating collaborative structures with SPG.
The scope of cooperation includes: ▲ supporting technological cooperation and joint business opportunity development between SPG and LG affiliates; ▲ facilitating technical exchanges and joint R&D planning in the actuator and reducer fields, as well as coordinating business feasibility reviews; and ▲ supporting the creation of collaborative opportunities by utilizing domestic and international industry-academia-research networks.
Projects secured during the course of this collaboration will be commercialized step by step through individual contracts.
Yeoyounggil, CEO of SPG, stated, “SPG has accumulated core component technologies in the fields of reducers and actuators. Through close cooperation with LG Science Park, we will expand opportunities for joint R&D and commercialization, and strengthen our high-performance product portfolio for various robotic applications.”
Jung Suheon, CEO of LG Science Park, explained, “As LG’s open innovation platform, LG Science Park is focused on creating practical value by quickly connecting the core competencies of promising partners with LG’s actual needs. Through our collaboration with SPG, we will jointly develop high-efficiency and highly reliable solutions for key components in robotic drive systems.”
