The Department of Oriental Medicine Materials at Dong-Eui Science University (President Kim Youngdo) has published a commemorative booklet titled "20 Years of the Department of Oriental Medicine Materials: The Story of Its Growth" to mark its 20th anniversary.
This commemorative publication is a record that encapsulates the department’s 20-year journey in a single volume, including its practice-oriented curriculum, award-winning projects from its specialized anti-aging product development programs, and the growth stories of its graduates.
The booklet highlights the strengths of field-based education by introducing practical scenes and educational cases from hands-on courses in herbal medicine and oriental health management. It also features more than 50 major award-winning entries from the anti-aging product development competition held over the past decade, complete with prototype photos and recipes, showcasing the students’ achievements in planning, manufacturing, and commercialization processes.
Additionally, the booklet presents interviews with 10 graduates who are active in various fields after completing the program, sharing stories of both mature students and young alumni who have applied their major in their respective lives, thus chronicling the 20-year history of the department.
To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the Department of Oriental Medicine Materials has also held a series of expert lectures and various celebratory events throughout the year. The relay lectures have been held monthly from March to November, featuring speakers from the fields of Korean medicine, pharmacy, nutrition, and public health.

Kim Hyunjung, Head of the Department of Oriental Medicine Materials, stated, "This commemorative booklet serves not only as a record of the achievements of our educational field and students but also as a reflection on the 20 years we have spent with our local community. We plan to utilize it as a foundation for future education and industry-academia cooperation."
The publication and related events were made possible through the support of department alumni and the university, and there are plans to actively use them for student education and collaboration with the local community in the future.
The Department of Oriental Medicine Materials at Dong-Eui Science University is the only two-year program in Korea specializing in herbal medicine materials. It is currently strengthening its adult learner-focused curriculum and operates a systematic educational program that integrates authentic Korean medicine with practical oriental health management therapies closely related to daily life, such as oriental herbal teas, herbal preparations, dietary therapy, and physical therapy.
