250,800-Ton Mega Cruise Ship
Commercial UHD TVs Supplied to Guest Rooms
Smart Signage Installed in Key Facilities
Samsung Electronics has supplied a large number of TVs and smart signage to "Star of the Seas," the world's largest cruise ship operated by global shipping company Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Launched this year from Port Canaveral, Florida, Star of the Seas is the largest mega cruise ship in the world, weighing 250,800 tons and measuring approximately 365 meters in length-about five times larger than the Titanic.
On November 19, Samsung Electronics announced that it had installed around 6,000 TVs and smart signage throughout Star of the Seas, including in 2,805 guest rooms, crew cabins, lounges, theaters, and other onboard facilities.
The TVs supplied to the guest rooms and crew cabins are commercial "Crystal UHD (Ultra High Definition, HBU8000)" models, delivering an immersive viewing experience with vivid clarity capable of expressing one billion colors.
Crystal UHD TVs support screen mirroring, allowing travelers to easily continue watching their personal OTT (over-the-top) streaming services and live broadcasts from their mobile devices on the TV.
Additionally, smart signage installed in key onboard facilities such as fitness centers and restaurants operates 24 hours a day, providing travelers with a wide range of real-time information.
Samsung Electronics has maintained a strong partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises for over 20 years. Since 2004, the company has supplied more than 200,000 TVs and signage to 28 cruise ships owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises. Last year, Samsung Electronics installed approximately 6,000 displays on "Icon of the Seas," which set sail in 2024.

Samsung Electronics is also leading innovation in the commercial TV market by supplying hotel TVs and the micro LED "The Wall" to guest rooms and lobbies at the Hilton Waikiki Hotel in Hawaii, as well as providing Samsung TVs to major hotels worldwide, including Kempinski in Bali, Indonesia, and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
