Five Bridges Connecting Yeosu and Goheung
Half Marathon and 10 km Courses
Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung) announced that the "2025 Yeosu Eleven Bridge Marathon" will be held on the 29th, on the section connecting Dolsan-eup in Yeosu and Yeongnam-myeon in Goheung.
The Yeosu Eleven Bridge Marathon is a race that crosses 11 connecting bridges between Yeosu and Goheung. Currently, 7 out of the 11 bridges have been completed, and by 2027, when the remaining 4 bridges under construction are finished, the event is planned to expand into an international race covering the entire route from Hwa-tae Bridge to Palyoung Bridge in one direction.

The inaugural event this year is hosted by the Yeosu Eleven Bridge Marathon Organizing Committee (Chairman Kim Kyungho) and sponsored by Jeollanam-do Province, Yeosu City, Goheung County, Yeosu City Sports Council, Iksan Regional Construction and Management Administration, 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo Organizing Committee, Yeosu National Industrial Complex Joint Development Council, and Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority.
The event will feature two categories: a half marathon course that goes back and forth across five bridges-Jobal Bridge, Dunbyeong Bridge, Nangdo Bridge, Jeokgeum Bridge, and Palyoung Bridge-and a 10 km course.
Previously, the marathon was canceled twice due to COVID-19 and the Itaewon tragedy. However, as a unique race held on sea bridges, it has drawn significant anticipation from marathon enthusiasts.
Chairman Kim Kyungho of the Organizing Committee stated, "After more than seven years of preparation, we are finally taking the first step. We will ensure thorough safety measures and develop this event into a new sports tourism asset for Yeosu. I hope it will grow into an international event and become a marathon that everyone wants to experience at least once."
To prepare for the event, the Organizing Committee is working with relevant agencies, including Yeosu City, Yeosu Police Station, Yeosu Maritime Police Station, Goheung County, Goheung Police Station, and the Iksan Regional Construction and Management Administration, to review safety measures. Around 200 volunteers are expected to assist with on-site operations.
Additionally, the Organizing Committee plans to use this marathon as an opportunity to promote the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo and to widely publicize the Baekri Seomseom-gil, which was recently designated as a "Korea Tourism Road."
