Contributing to Community Revitalization
Through Local Food-Based Sharing and Social Responsibility
The Gumi Food Integration Support Center Foundation (Chairman Kim Jangho) in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, has been newly designated as a recognized institution in the “2025 CSR in the Community” program, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
The “CSR in the Community” program is a nationwide certification system that officially recognizes the contribution activities of private companies and public institutions that utilize their human and material resources to collaborate with local non-profit organizations and institutions, thereby improving the quality of life for local residents and revitalizing the community.
The evaluation process consists of three ESG review areas-environmental management, social responsibility management, and transparent management-spanning seven review categories and 19 evaluation indicators. Institutions are selected through a rigorous three-stage process, including monitoring by external professional organizations and on-site inspections.
The Gumi Food Integration Support Center Foundation has adopted “establishing a virtuous cycle for local food” and “community engagement in social contribution activities” as its core values, and has carried out a variety of initiatives.
Major contribution activities include: ▲ green environmental activities and education for eco-friendly practices ▲ a local food donation relay by local farmers ▲ sharing with vulnerable groups through the Kimchi-Making Culture Sharing Festival ▲ “rice-centered dietary education” to address declining rice consumption (with 1,080 participants) ▲ and collaborative projects with local organizations and businesses for mutual growth.
The foundation received high marks for its efforts to promote coexistence with disadvantaged groups and spread a culture of sharing, centered on local food, as well as for establishing a “community-based social contribution model” that helps solve local issues through solidarity and cooperation within the community.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, stated, “I believe this recognition is the result of the foundation’s local food-centered social contribution activities growing together with the community,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen the virtuous cycle that connects local food with the community and do our utmost to promote sharing and care that citizens can truly feel.”
